LOUISVILLE (AP) - Chi-Chi's, the Mexican restaurant chain, may have served its last chimichanga. Outback Steakhouse (OSI) in September closed on its $42.5 million deal for the rights to 76 restaurants in the Chi-Chi's chain, which was beleaguered by bankruptcy and a hepatitis outbreak in western Pennsylvania.Outback plans to convert many of the restaurants into its own brands - which include its signature Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba's Italian Grills, Bonefish Grills, Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bars, Roy's and Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurants. A statement posted on Louisville-based Chi-Chi's Web site said, "We would like to thank all of our loyal customers of the past 27 years and with a tear in our eye, say Adios." A recorded message on Chi-Chi's toll-free guest relations hot line said the chain was no longer in business and apologized for any inconvenience caused by the closure of its restaurants.

Having grown up in Southern California, I think I know what real Mexican tastes and looks like. I don't understand how a place like Chi-Chi's can stay in business. This is not Mexican food, people. I don't how to describe it...American-Mex? The two times I've been to our local Chi-Chi's, the service was the worst. Hostesses with ZERO personality. Servers with attitude, and food that sucks. Don't waste your time. |

I do not like to write negative reviews, however this restaurant certainly deserves a negative one. Before I could eat my food I had to wait a long time, about 45 minutes. My waitress was good at waiting, but not at being a waitress. I ordered chicken nachos and chili con queso as appetizers. The chicken nachos were ok, however I received a small amount of queso dip and about five small nachos for about five dollars. For the entrée I ordered a steak fajita. The fajita came with none of the peppers that were advertised in the menu. Other than that the fajita was semi-decent.
The things that left a negative impression with me were the service and the food. My waitress was slow. She was quite possibly the worst waitress I have ever had. The appetizers were also pretty poor and I feel like I was cheated out of my money with the chili con queso. To be honest I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. |
