great place Sep 15th, 2003
Chili's in Menlo Park had front row parking right at the peak of dinner. I wanted to go to Chili's because my boyfriend and I had never been there, and wondered how the restaurant is. I thought this restaurant would be similar to Chevy's, but it really wasn't. It had a lot of decorations, and better food. Chili's has good food as well as service. Chili's is great for couples, teens, and familes.

The service was friendly and pleasing. We were seated right as we walked in the door. When we sat down the waiter came over promptly, and asked for our drink orders. When we were deciding what we wanted to order the waiter was patient and not overwhelming. He recommended his favorite plate the Citrus Fire Chicken and Shrimp.

The menu offered appetizers, and a "just for kids menu". They serve a wide variety of alcohol and original mixes. They didn't have any chips and salsa for you to eat while you were waiting for your food. They also didn't serve you with a glass of water with your regular drink. Although they do offer tostada chips with salsa ($1.79). The appetizers looked appealing but not really worth it for only two people at the table. They were more for family or group orders. They also offer party platters. This party platter turkey sandwiches smoked turkey with swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato ($34.99) serves 6-8 people. They also offer southwestern eggrolls which is crispy flour tortillas wrapped around smoked chicken, black beans, corn and jalapeno jack cheese with red peppers and spinach. Served with creamy avocado-ranch dipping sauce. ($32.99).

After a long look at the menu I decided on the Fajita Quesadillas which is a fajita cooked steak or chicken with grilled onions and Jack cheese in buttery toasted tortillas. Served with rice, black beans, sour cream & pico de gallo ($7.99). This meal was so delicious. When I dipped my fajita steak, cheese quesadilla in the sour cream and guacamole it tasted very flavorful. My boyfriend, who tried the waiters reccomendation, had the Citrus Fire Chicken and Shrimp which is a margarita grilled chicken topped with spicy garlic and lime shrimp. Served with rice, fresh veggies and pico de gallo ($11.99). My boyfriend really enjoyed the spicy garlic flavor. The chicken was moist and the shrimp was perfect. Right when I finished the last sip of my soda the waiter came and brought me a new one. I was really pleased with the quick response. Especially since they don't have iced water for you on the table.

I did not like my seat. They were booths but in order for me to sit back and lean on the back of the booth I had to scoot all the way back and it was too far away from the table. I ended up just leaning on the table because my back was hurting from the seats. I would have rather sat in a wooden chair. I really enjoyed the decorations. They were pretty random decorations placed on the walls. Their motto "Chili's is Like No Place Else", is really true. They are not like anywhere else. They have some similar foods but they have different ingredients and different tates.

Overall Chili's is a great place to hang out with friends and family and enjoy a delicious meal and great service.

The mashed potatoes were colder than room temp. The country fried steak was soggy on the outside and the inside was grizzle.

The service really stunk big time
