Montecristo is a family-run El Salvadoran/Mexican restaurant, and as the name implies, features tacos, papusas, burritos, quesadillas, and other "quick" (but not fast) delights from Mexico and El Salvador, plus a variety of larger platters, which often intermingle the cuisine of both countries.
Montecristo is open 9 a.m.-10 p.m. seven days a week.
Diners have a choice of about five different egg breakfasts, including the well known Mexican Huevos Rancheros and Huevos with Chorizo sausage. All breakfasts cost about $6.00 and are served with refried beans, avocado, El Salvadoran table cream, and a generous chunk of queso fresco, a soft, white, fresh cheese, and two generous slices of fried sweet plantain.
The beverage list consists of Mexican and American sodas, homemade milkshakes, Horchata, (a sweet rice drink) cashew and mango juices, water, coffee, and a hot corn drink known as Atol de Elote.
